Pleasure Point Street Fair
Every year, the Pleasure Point community comes together for the Street Fair. Held on Portola Drive between 41st and 38th Avenue, the Street Fair is packed with things to do. If you want to support local music, you can watch six bands perform different genres of music, including Americana, blues, rock, reggae, and surf music. There will be a beer garden featuring New Bohemia Brewing Co.’s lagers, wine, and mimosas, plenty of great food, and even a skateboard contest. It’s a lot of fun!
O’Neill House
Locals all know who owned the big green house on the shore. The famous full-bearded, eye-patched businessman Jack O’Neill spent the last 50 years of his life in his Pleasure Point home. Before his death in 2017, he was often seen driving around the neighborhoods in his Jaguar, striking up conversations with local surfers. O’Neill coined the phrase “surf shop” and invented the wetsuit so he could surf longer in the cold waters of Northern California. He went on to create the widely respected O’Neill surf brand and spent the rest of his days teaching ocean stewardship to elementary school children through his “Sea Odyssey” nonprofit organization. The Pleasure Point community now celebrates “Jack O’Neill Day” in honor of his life, and the O’Neill house has become a fixture for the neighborhood.
